Just Weed Strains is a New York cannabis information site. We publish a database of the flower strains on licensed New York City dispensary menus, a directory of licensed dispensaries in the five boroughs, two free tools, and guides to individual strains and to New York cannabis law. We do not sell cannabis or any other product.
What we publish
- The NYC weed strains database: every flower strain we found on licensed NYC dispensary menus, with the shops that carry it, menu prices and label THC.

- Strain guides, which cover lineage, breeder, label THC, flavor and whether New York City shops stock the strain.

Who writes it
Daniel Levinson, a cannabis industry consultant and an advisor to Just Weed Strains, writes our articles on cannabis business, regulation and dispensary licensing. His name is on each of those articles.
Strain guides, the dispensary directory and consumer guides are written by the Just Weed Strains editorial staff.
How we gather New York City data
- The list of shops comes from the New York Office of Cannabis Management’s public license data, limited to active adult-use retail licenses in the five boroughs.
- Strain names, prices and THC figures come from each shop’s own public flower menu, read on the date printed on the page.
- Some shops publish menus in a format we could not read. They are left out, so our counts are a floor and not a census. The Bronx and Staten Island are thin for that reason.
- We count flower only. Pre-rolls, vapes, edibles and infused flower are excluded.
- Names are recorded as the menus print them, with spelling variants merged. Prices are menu prices, and some menus include tax while others do not.
Menus change daily. Every page that uses this data says when it was read.
Sources and standards
- Every strain guide lists its sources at the bottom of the page. They are breeder and seed bank pages, licensed grower and retailer listings, SeedFinder, Leafly and Weedmaps.
- When sources disagree, or when a breeder or lineage is not documented, we say so and do not pick a version.
- Reported effects are attributed to whoever reported them: a brand, a retailer or consumer reviews. We do not make health claims of our own.
- Legal articles link to the regulation or official announcement they describe.
Corrections
When we change a fact on a page, we add a dated note at the bottom of that page saying what changed.
What this site is not
Nothing here is medical or legal advice. The site is for adults 21 and over. Cannabis laws differ by state, and New York’s rules change often, so check the Office of Cannabis Management for the current position.
