How to Spot a Licensed Dispensary in Person

Every licensed dispensary is issued a Dispensary Verification Tool, a decal with a QR code that is posted in the storefront. Scanning it opens the state’s list of licensed adult-use dispensaries. The Office of Cannabis Management also keeps a verification page on its own site.

Check the products as well. Regulated adult-use cannabis products carry New York’s universal symbol on the package, which marks them as tested and regulated.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I check if a dispensary is licensed in New York?

Search its name, street, or ZIP code in the checker on this page. It reads the Office of Cannabis Management’s official license list. In person, look for the state’s verification decal with a QR code in the storefront.

A shop is open but does not show up. Is it unlicensed?

Search by street name or ZIP code first, because the name on the sign can differ from the licensed name. If nothing at that address appears, the shop is not on the state’s list of licensed dispensaries.

How often is the list updated?

The state updates its license dataset weekly. This checker pulls the list directly from the state, so there is no separate copy that can go out of date.

Does the checker include medical dispensaries?

Yes. Registered organizations that run medical dispensaries are on the list and are labeled as medical.

Do licensed dispensaries deliver?

Many do. Turn on the Delivers filter to see licensed dispensaries that the state lists as offering delivery.
