How we count

This page adds up the five borough pages, which use the New York Office of Cannabis Management’s Current OCM Licenses file as of Oct 3, 2026. A shop counts as open to the public when the file shows an active license, an active operating status, and a date it opened to the public. Shops with an active license but no opening date are counted as licensed but not open yet.

We count adult-use dispensaries, conditional adult-use dispensaries and microbusinesses with retail sales. Medical dispensaries are listed on the borough pages and are not in the totals above. A shop is placed in a borough by its ZIP code. We have not visited or verified each shop, so check before you go.
