The cheapest licensed dispensary in NYC on our Oct 19, 2026 menu read was Two Buds Dispensary on East 241st Street in the Bronx, with a median eighth of about $31 before tax and 64 eighths under $30. Next came a cluster of shops with a $35 median eighth: Alta in Nolita, Budega in Park Slope, Erudito in Carroll Gardens, Jungle Kingdom in Bushwick and Vaporize in Richmond Hill. Kushmart on Kings Highway had the most bargain jars in Brooklyn. The citywide median eighth is $40.

Two patterns stand out. First, the cheapest shops are mostly outside Manhattan: six of the ten lowest medians are in Brooklyn. Second, Manhattan’s cheapest options are not where tourists usually look. Alta on Kenmare Street beats the citywide median and Carnegie Hill Cannabis on Second Avenue matches it, while the Union Square, Chelsea and East Village shops sit at $44 to $47.50.

How to buy cheap weed legally in NYC

  • Go bigger. A median quarter costs about $8.60 a gram and a median ounce about $5.71, against $11.43 for an eighth. Our ounce price guide lists the cheapest ounces.
  • Pick value brands. HERB, mini MART, Leal, Old Pal and Hepworth had median eighths of $22 to $27.50. See all prices in our brands guide.
  • Ask about daily deals and first-visit discounts. 210 eighths were on sale on Oct 19, with a median discount of 15%.
  • Check the tax. A $35 eighth is $39.55 after 13% tax; a “$40” eighth at a tax-included shop is $40 at the register.
  • Order ahead. The menus we read are the shops’ own online ordering pages, so you can check the price and reserve a jar before you go.

How we ranked the shops

We read every page of the flower menus of 32 licensed dispensaries on Oct 19, 2026 and kept eighths (3.5 g) of whole flower only: no smalls, shake, pre-rolls or infused flower. Each product counts once per shop. Shops with fewer than 15 eighths on the menu (Maison Canal in Tribeca and Unlimited Cannabis in Inwood) are left out of the ranking. For the seven shops whose prices end in odd cents, we treated the menu price as tax-inclusive and divided by 1.13 to estimate the pre-tax price; we label those shops “tax in price”. We read 32 of about 300 licensed NYC stores, so a cheap shop near you may not be here yet.
