How we count
This page uses the New York Office of Cannabis Management’s Current OCM Licenses file, as of Oct 3, 2026. A shop counts as open to the public when the file shows an active license, an active operating status, and a date it opened to the public. Shops with an active license but no opening date are listed separately as licensed but not open yet.
We count adult-use dispensaries, conditional adult-use dispensaries and microbusinesses with retail sales. Medical dispensaries are listed separately. A shop is placed in the Bronx by its ZIP code, and the neighborhood names are approximate and based on ZIP code. Delivery, drive-thru and hours come straight from the state record. We have not visited or verified each shop, so check before you go.
- Adult-use dispensary
- A store with a New York retail dispensary license to sell cannabis to adults 21 and older.
- Conditional license
- A license issued under New York’s Conditional Adult-Use Retail Dispensary program, which prioritized people with past cannabis-related convictions and their family members. Many of the first stores to open held this license.
- Microbusiness
- A license that lets one business grow, process, distribute and sell its own cannabis. We include only the ones the state lists as open with retail sales.
- Open to the public
- The state lists the store as operating and shows a date it opened to customers.
