Where Sour Jack comes from
Sour Jack is a cross of Sour Diesel and Jack Herer, and every source we checked agrees on that. The version most often cited comes from Karma Genetics: Weedmaps says Karma pollinated a Sour Diesel IBL with pollen from a Jack Herer male, and SeedFinder names that male as Jack 22, a Jack Herer #22 selection. The UK seed company G13 Labs also sells a Sour Jack from the same two parents. No breeder gives a year.
The New York link runs through its parents. Sour Diesel is the strain most tied to the city, and on Oct 19, 2026 it was tied for the most stocked strain in NYC dispensaries, on 23 of 32 menus. Jack Herer was on 17. Sour Jack is far rarer, and in our count it came from only two New York growers, Edie Parker and Dank.
Aroma, flavor and terpenes
Leafly’s flavor tags are citrus, diesel and lemon, and its description adds tropical and sweet notes. AllBud reviewers describe the aroma as citrus, fruity, pungent and sour. You get the fuel of Sour Diesel and the lemon peel side of Jack Herer. Leafly lists myrcene as the dominant terpene, followed by limonene and caryophyllene.
THC and effects
Leafly lists Sour Jack at about 16% THC and AllBud at 22%. NYC labels on Oct 19, 2026 were much higher, from 27% to 32%: the Dank eighths were at 27% and the Edie Parker eighths at 30% to 32%.
Leafly reviewers, who give it 4.5 out of 5 across about 240 ratings, most often tag it energetic, focused and creative, and the most reported downsides are dry mouth, anxiety and headache. It is a daytime sativa by reputation, like both of its parents. Those are consumer reports, not predictions. Our THC calculator turns a label percentage into milligrams per serving.
